Flavour tried: Shack Attack, which is chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough and Mast Brothers Shake Shack dark chocolate chunks.

Shake Shack is known more for their burgers and milk shakes (they also have excellent iced tea) but I hadn’t thought of them for dessert. Their frozen custard posters intrigued me though so I gave their Shack Attack cup a try.
First things first, what’s the difference between frozen custard and ice cream? According to Wikipedia it’s made with eggs, cream and sugar, kept a bit warmer and is usually denser. If you’ve never had frozen custard think of it as a better, denser, creamier version of soft serve.
The Shack Attack has is chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough and dark chocolate chunks, and chocolate sprinkles. Some days you just need a treat with 4 kinds of chocolate. If you aren’t one of those people (why aren’t you?) they do have other flavours.
The first thing I noticed about my Shack Attack was the odd hole in the centre of the cup, it’s from the mixer but it looks like the perfect place for whipped cream; Just a suggestion Shake Shack.
The frozen custard was very creamy and rich, the chocolate flavour was excellent and this would have been a fine dessert on it’s own. But wait there were mix ins! Cookie dough, dark chocolate pieces, fudge sauce and let’s not forget the sprinkles. The cookie pieces were on the large side, but there weren’t many of them though so they didn’t dominate the cup, but they did make the dessert a very filling one. The sauce and chocolate pieces were nice and the sprinkles, were, dare I say it? Superfluous. Yet on reflection, appreciated.
I was really craving chocolate that day.
The portion of the small frozen custard at Shake Shack is generous, it’ll easily fill you up, a deal for the price. I ate at the Marina Mall location and perhaps because it’s separate from the main food court I found it to be a quiet location.
